This small town boasts boutique shopping, local restaurants, fine dining, museums, and abundant outdoor recreation. Located along the Mississippi River at the Iowa-Illinois border, Dubuque is a thriving city with rich culture and tight-knit community. Paddle the Dubuque Water Trail, sip your way through the region’s craft breweries, or support local boutique stores. Fine Dining
There are so many wonderful places to in Dubuque and Galena. If you love Greek food, the Log Cabin in Galena is a 45-minute drive that is well worth it!. For endless options, visit downtown Dubuque restaurants where you can find Brazen, L`May`s, and so many more. It`s just about 20 minutes away from the cottage. Be sure to make reservations in advance at these restaurants.
Hiking & Outdoors
There are many wonderful places to hike and waterways to paddle within a 30-minute drive. Explore the outdoor oasis along the Mississippi River, the Mines of Spain Recreation Area, the Maquoketa Caves, Eagle Point Park, and more. If you want to spend time on the water, there are kayak rental companies and guided tours.
Museums
Frank Lloyd Wright home is just over an hour drive away, in Spring Green Wisconsin. Dubuque has two museums in the area to visit. The Dubuque Art Museum and The Dubuque River Museum both offer exhibits and collections that document the history of the Dubuque region.

There are so many great Dubuque restaurants for all tastes. You`ll find everything from casual and inexpensive to award-winning fine dining throughout the area.
